Burundi - 2023

TDG Advisors is currently working with our consortium partners   on a Supply Chain evaluation project in Burundi.

We are applying some new tools to enhance the visualization of the Burundi Health Supply Chain.

This includes the use of ArcGIS maps developed for us by our partner, Esri South Africa.

The project objective is to evaluate and optimize the distribution of pharmaceutical products in Burundi.

Malawi - 2022

In 2022 TDG Advisors supported IQVIA with last mile supply chain technical assistance for a UNICEF project for the Ministry of Health in Malawi. The project was "Communities Health Supply Chain Procurement Supply Management (PSM) Assessment and Revitalization Project in Malawi", which was the assessment of the Malawi health supply chain at the community level of clinics and health posts.

The key recommendations were expanding a basic IT stock application system to all health facilities to eliminate paper-based records. Upgrading the IT stock application to consider “demand side variables”. Implementing 2-week buffer stock for sites with frequent stock outs. Enhancing storage space by providing secure storage boxes at sites with limited capacity. Introducing nominated order days. Introducing nominated pick-up days for collection. Optimizing delivery route plans.

These recommendations were designed to build on existing initiatives and capacity in Malawi so that they can be implemented by local capability and capacity at the primary health care level.

Haiti - 2022

In 2022 capacity was provided by Dion de Gruchy to the Global Health Supply Chain Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) at the central warehouse in Port-Au-Prince for 7 months. This central warehouse distributes USAID, The Global Fund and CDC essential medicines and health commodities to Ministry of Health facilities and clinics across all provinces of Haiti.

Besides daily operational tasks of warehousing and third-party logistics, a new Warehouse Management System (WMS) was implemented. This required the establishment of an implementation team and WMS transition project plan.

Preparation for transition of the system included: reviewing and cleaning of legacy data; reviewing and cleaning the health facility master data; configuring pallet and storage locations in the new WMS; defining storage locations into Pharma Grade Storage, Ambient Storage and Cold Chain storage; setup of user profiles access and authorization based on staff roles and responsibilities; configuration of WMS settings to align the new WMS software modules to the current warehouse business processes; and interface and integration of new WMS to other IT systems used for ordering and logistics distribution.
